Born in Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil, on 11 April 1981, she started life living in a petrol station, owned and run by her parents in Erechim, Brazil. Alessandra had her eyes on a glamorous escape from her school days, enrolling in modelling classes from the age of 12. By 14 she was competing in Brazil's Elite Model Look contest and paid modelling work quickly followed. Brazilian Elle magazine gave her a first cover.
There are few fashion magazines in the world she hasn't appeared on the cover of since and few top fashion designers she hasn't strutted the catwalk for. Alessandra regular appears in Most Beautiful Women in the world lists, especially since she became an Angel for the sexy Victoria's Secret brand. She became the first ever spokesperson for its PINK line.
After being the face of countless high profile brands worldwide, Alessandra launched fashion and lifestyle brand named Ále by Alessandra. A small appearance in the 2006 Bond movie Casino Royale saw her catch the acting bug. She appeared as herself in Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows. Her real acting debut, however, was playing the role of a former top model in the Brazilian telenovela Verdades Secretas.
